A Japanese mother has been accused of heinously killing her own 9-year-old son by pushing him off the 23rd floor of a Tokyo hotel in a suspected murder-suicide attempt.

The incident reportedly happened in a hotel located in Kabukicho in the Shinjuku Ward of Tokyo, Japan on Wednesday, Dec. 29.

The 47-year-old mother of two checked into the Kabukicho hotel with her children on Tuesday evening, Dec. 28. On Wednesday, at around 7 a.m., however, a police officer heard a loud noise coming from the hotel premises. After looking around, he found the 9-year-old boy lying in a pool of blood on the ground in the hotel's courtyard, Japan Today reported.

When the cop looked up at the hotel building, he noticed someone on the emergency stairs on the 23rd floor of the establishment. The officer quickly proceeded to the floor to investigate and found the mother in the corridor. After being questioned by the police, she admitted that she had pushed her son from the stairs. Following her confession, the officers took her into custody.

Law enforcement believes that the 47-year-old woman was attempting to commit murder-suicide by pushing her son and her 7-year-old daughter from the hotel's 23rd floor before also trying to kill herself by jumping off the building.

In a similar but unrelated incident, a twenty-three-year-old mother named Chihiro Saito, a part-time employee, has been arrested on suspicion of murder after she allegedly threw her newborn baby from the second floor of a two-story building located in Yotsukaido, Chiba Prefecture, Japan on Dec. 14, Latin Times reported.

Officers responded to the scene after the staff at a group home for children alerted them that a naked baby’s body had been found behind the two-story building. The authorities immediately transported the newborn to a nearby hospital for treatment, however, the infant was pronounced dead upon arrival at the facility.

The mother's motive behind the cruel murder remains unclear.

In another incident, a Brooklyn mother has been arrested and charged with attempted murder after she allegedly threw her two young children out the second-floor window of an apartment building in June. 12 earlier this year, NBC New York reported.

On June. 12, the mother, Dejhanny Jarrell, 24, allegedly threw her 1-month-old baby and her 2-year-old son out of the window of the Brownsville building. After throwing her children out of the window, the woman jumped after them herself.

The children and the mother were immediately rushed to Brookdale Hospital for treatment. The infant was reportedly admitted in critical condition. However, the injuries of the mother and the 2-year-old son were believed to be non-life-threatening.
