An Arizona teen died after losing control of her motorcycle and falling 80 feet, only for the bike to be stolen from the scene before police arrived.
Annabel Force, 19, was riding her Yamaha motorcycle on June 8 when she apparently lost control on a ramp and was thrown over a highway median in Phoenix, Fox 10 reported. Her family contacted police after realizing the location on her phone was not moving.
Law enforcement initially informed Force's family that no crash had been reported, as the motorcycle had been taken from the scene, obscuring the fact that she had been thrown from the bike. A search-and-rescue helicopter was later deployed, leading to the discovery of her body.
"Unknown circumstances caused the motorcyclist to lose control and strike the median wall. The motorcyclist fell over the median wall 80 feet where they were later pronounced deceased," Arizona DPS Spokesperson Bart Graves stated, according to Fox 10. Her cause of death was listed as blunt force injuries.
Force's family is asking the public for help recovering her stolen motorcycle, hoping it will provide answers about what happened in the moments leading up to her death.
"Did the person who stole it have something to do with it? That's my concern too," Force's grandmother told 12 News.
