A substitute teacher is accused of having sexual romps with a teenage student in the Willingboro Public School District in New Jersey. Kameelah Kareem, 41, was arrested Wednesday and faces multiple charges including second degree counts of sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

Investigations launched last month led up to alleged information that Kareem had been possibly involved in an "inappropriate relationship" with a 15-year-old student she met while teaching at the Alternative School at Bookbinder during the 2019-2020 school year, Fox29 reported.

Authorities said Kareem served as a substitute teacher at the school various times between November 2019 and March 2020 and found evidence that she interacted with the student multiple times outside of school. The investigation was conducted by the Burlington prosecutor office’s Major Crimes Unit – Special Victims Section and the Willingboro Township Police Department.

Prosecutors have not gone into detail about the case in an effort to protect the victim’s identity.

Kareem was taken into custody but was released Thursday following a hearing in Burlington County Superior Court. The prosecutor’s office said her case will be presented to a grand jury at a later date for possible indictment.

Kareem will be prosecuted by Assistant Prosecutor Stephen Eife, supervisor of the BCPO Major Crimes Unit – Special Victims Section, according to Report Door.

It was not immediately clear if Kareem has retained the services of an attorney.
