A competitive skier who was participating in the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics found himself suffering from a "frozen penis" during a race on Saturday, Feb. 19, as strong cold winds and weather continue to plague the Beijing Olympics.

Remi Lindholm, a Finnish skier who is currently participating in his first Winter Olympics, found himself in discomfort when his genitals were frozen during a cross-country skiing match in the Beijing games, according to Reuters.

Though the route had been shortened from 50km to 30km due to the strong, freezing winds that had covered up the mountain area where the competition had been held, Lindholm still found himself uncomfortably cold by the time he passed the finish line, the New York Post reported.

“You can guess which body part was a little bit frozen when I finished (the men’s Olympic 50km race) … it was one of the worst competitions I’ve been in. It was just about battling through,” he said during an interview with the Finnish press.

Lindholm finished 28th out of over 60 participants, with his time being under an hour and 16 minutes of navigating the course laid out to them. When he arrived at the finish line, a heat pack was given to him to unfreeze his genitals.

“When the body parts started to warm up after the finish, the pain was unbearable,” he said, describing the experience to the press.

It’s believed that the equipment worn by skiers during the events, composed of thin suits and under-layers, are inadequate to protect them from the howling, freezing cold that they faced during the Olympic cross-country race.

This is not the first time that Lindholm had encountered this type of problem during a skiing event: less than a year ago, he had found himself with the same problem of frozen genitals after he had finished a cross-country skiing race in Ruka, Finland.

He had not commented on the similarity of the occurrence to the press.
