The 2023 billboard Latin music awards, one of the most anticipated day in Latin music, had its annual night under the spotlight on Thursday in Miami. Peso Pluma , Bad Bunny, and Karol G were the big winners of the night.

Peso Pluma

Mexican artist Peso Pluma took the lead with a total of eight awards, including Hot Latin song of the year and new Artist of the Year. He also took the stage twice to perform "Por las noches (Remix)" with Nicki Nicole and "La Bebé (Remix)" with Yng Lvcas.

Bad Bunny

Bad Bunny followed Peso Pluma with seven major awards, among them Global 200 Artist of the Year, Tour of the Year, and Artist of the Year. "Anyone who knows me knows that I have always carried the message, in fact my music represents the Spanish language, Spanish music, Latinos, the entire culture. And it's something I'm proud of," he remarked as he received the song of the year (sales) award for "Tití me preguntó". The Puerto Rican vocalist also delivered an upbeat performance of some of his greatest hits: "Moscow Mule", "Me porto bonito", "La Neverita", and more.

Karol G

Karol G took home five awards that included Top Latin Album of the Year for "Mañana será bonito." La Bichota was also honored with the Billboard's Spirit of Hope award for her humanitarian work done through her "Con Cora" foundation. This organization has led to better lives, education, and careers for the female population in Colombia. "Well this is probably one of the most special awards I will receive during my entire career. Con Cora is a super beautiful project that we have had for many years even when it was not even called "Con Cora."

Along with Karol G's, two other honorary awards were handed out. Ivy Queen was presented with Billboard's Icon award. The Puerto Rican rapper has paved the way in the Latin music genre as being one of the first female artists to make reggaeton music in an often male-dominated genre.

"Within a genre that taught me many things and one of the greatest things is... not to sell my essence, to remain firm despite the thousands of stones that could be placed in my path from the beginning. This is a genre that also taught me to embrace my masculine part because when I started in this genre I had to battle with males and not with females. So when you leave here tonight, add a song by this woman who is here to your playlist, she said."

The third honorees of the night, Los Ángeles Azules, received Billboard's Lifetime Achievement award. With more than 40 years of working in the Latin music industry the Mejía family happily comments, "We are going to continue dancing, singing, and we are going to make the Iztapalapa cumbia for the world." The siblings celebrated with a performance of their greatest hits along with special guests Nicki Nicole, Sofia Reyes, and Ximena Sariñana.

Beyond the main categories, Grupo Frontera, Shakira, Manuel Turizo, Eslabón Armado, Edgar Barrera, and Yandel were amongst the many who received recognition in the Latin music industry.

The fiesta also featured energetic performances by artists such as Justin Quiles, El Alfa, Grupo Frontera, Farruko. But the fan-favorite performances of the night were:

Feid, Myke Towers – who performed with Yandel also –, and Sky Rompiendo performing their vibey song "Cielo".

Marc Anthony joined forces with Pepe Aguilar and his Regional Mexican genre to perform for the first time ever their song "Ojalá Te Duela".

Olga Tañon lit up the stage with her rhythmic moves to her well-known song, "Es Mentiroso".

The line-up continued with Chiquis keeping Jenni Rivera's legacy alive with a special performance alongside Calibre 50 and Banda Los Sebastianes.
