Pitbull was honored with the first ever “Latin AMA Dick Clark Achievement Award” at the Latin AMAs 2017. The distinction was handed out to the Latin artist for inspiring all of humanity with his dedication to music and because he has used his fame and influence to help those in need. "For the folks that are helpless right now, I want to motivate them and inspire them to stay strong, to rebuild even stronger," Pitbull said. "All the way from Puerto Rico to Cuba, the Keys, Houston, the earthquakes in Mexico, may God bless the souls of those in Las Vegas and to all the fires that are happening right now in Northern California, this is the time you've got to take and really appreciate what life is about. Live life, don't let life live you."

He also added: "Don't ever forget that immigrants built the United States of America, we gotta stay strong, and we gotta fight so the United States of America stays the United States of America, not the divided states of America. I think they should be building more schools instead of worrying about building a wall. This goes out to all the fallen soldiers that are out there fighting for us so we can enjoy this thing we call freedom." Watch the speech below and tell us what you think!

Pitbull was the first to receive the “Latin AMA Dick Clark Achievement Award” during the ceremony. The honor recognizes a Latin artist that inspires all of humanity with his dedication to music and because he uses his fame and influence to help those in need. This artist does not hide in a recording studio, but gives brightness and hope to those that have no other alternative. Dick Clark was one of the great pioneers of the music industry in the United States of America and he declared, “I have accomplished my childhood dream, to be in show business. Everybody should be so lucky to have their dreams come true. I’ve been truly blessed.” The Dick Clark Achievement Award is the distinction given to an artist who has permitted others to make their dream a reality.

Initially inspired to pursue his music dream by one of his high school teachers, Pitbull also understands the impact that education can make in one’s life. To spread that message and encourage quality education for children from all walks of life, he serves as an ambassador for SLAM!, Sports Leadership and Management charter schools. Launched in the Little Havana section of Miami where he spent some of his youth, the SLAM! model has now expanded to Las Vegas and West Palm Beach, Florida.
