Sony's latest handheld console can see a boost in sales if the rumors surrounding the next generation console PlayStation 4's games are true.

Reports from the gaming community are coming out that most if not all games for the PS4 games will require remote play via the PS Vita.

Eurogamer Digital Foundry reports that a trusted developer source revealed Sony has mandated Vita Remote Play for all upcoming PS4 games, except those that require the use of its bundled stereoscopic camera, the PS4 Eye. The news was confirmed by Shuhei Yoshida via Twitter.

"Yes, it's true unless the game requires specific hardware like the camera," Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida wrote on Twitter in response to a question from a follower. "It will be great to play PS4 games on PS Vita."

Remote Play allows PlayStation Portable and PlayStation Vita users to play selected titles on their hand-held consoles while using the more powerful PS3 to actually render the game.

Remote Play is definitely not a new feature. It was introduced on the PlayStation 3 with support on the PlayStation Portable, PSP, and PS Vita for PlayStation 1 titles and certain PS3 games. The PSP and Vita had lackluster and laggy support for a handful of PS3 games. And the Vita itself having virtually no additional support.

It will be natively supported on PS4 through Gaikai, announced Gaikai CEO Dave Perry during Sony's PS4 unveiling in February. At the time, Perry said Sony aimed to have all PS4 titles support Remote Play.

Using the PS Vita and PS4 could easily produce the same experience as using the Wii U although you know the price difference will be vastly different.

Sony has yet to give any details on whether or not using the two consoles together will unlock any other features beyond Remote Play. Time will tell and hopefully more will be shared at E3 in a few weeks.
