Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are planning a social media campaign to better connect with their followers online. After getting a lot of negative press in the past few weeks, the royal couple has hired a social media influencer to help them.

26-year-old David Watkins used to work for the fashion label Burberry, and he has now been selected to help the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Express reported. A royal source has confirmed that he is the “perfect person” for the job.

According to the advertisement on the royal website, the job of the social media influencer is to join a “fast paced and dynamic team” at the Buckingham Palace. The person should have the ability to handle the pressure that comes with knowing that content that is shared on the Instagram page of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be viewed by millions.

The official designation of the position is Digital Communications Lead. It’s a regular 9 to 5 job from Monday to Friday. Watkins can expect to make £30k (about US$36k) a year.

“Harry and and Meghan want to conquer the world and they want to do it through the prism of social media to really connect with their followers,” a royal source said about the plan.

According to Watkins’s Linkedin page, he is driven by the question of how he can help others. He likes to challenge the status quo and try things that are outside his comfort zone.

Watkins has already won some praise by the fans of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for his video and photography skills. The online followers of the royal couple will get to see these skills when the couple travel to South Africa next month.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been posting inspiring and empowering messages on their Instagram page. Their most recent post led to multiple people criticizing the royal couple for using private jets for their trips.
