Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton are a picture of a perfect couple. Many have admired the relationship of this royal couple and how they were able to withstand the test of time.

They are often photographed or filmed spending time together and doing activities that would help strengthen their marriage. With three children together, it would be hard to make a person believe that there is something wrong with their relationship.

However, in a report on the Express, a psychologist claims that there might be something odd with this couple, thanks to Prince William's term of endearment for his wife.

Based on reports, the Duke of Cambridge was first heard calling his wife "poppet" after the birth of their eldest child, Prince George.

“Poppet,” as the name suggests, is an old English word which means “doll”, “love”, or “puppet.”

Although it does sound sweet, its roots were quite grim and had a less than appealing description.

According to reports, “poppet” means a small child or a doll in Middle English. Meanwhile, popets made of twigs were used by people who practiced witchcraft, similar to how a voodoo doll would be used.

Psychologist Dr. Becky Spelman said that this term of endearment for Kate is Prince William’s way of showing his love and affection for his wife. However, it could also mean that he wants to control her.

Dr. Spelman said, “Prince William’s use of the word for his wife is affectionate and reflects his admiration for her beauty and his desire to protect and care for her—and perhaps, to some extent, also to control or at least supervise her movements so that he feels that he is at the helm of their relationship.”

True or not, it seems as though Kate is still able to do things on her own, without waiting for her husband’s words.

Even though is a psychological sense, Prince William allegedly has a controlling attitude, we can clearly see how happy the royal couple still is after nine years of being together.
