Prince William and Kate Middleton managed to do something to make sure that they won’t follow Princess Diana and Prince Charles’ footsteps. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are still together since they got married in 2011.

Several years ago, the Prince and Princess of Wales decided to tie the knot just a few months after they started dating. This meant that Prince Charles and Princess Diana didn’t know each other very well at that time.

Very early on in the couple’s relationship, the late royal also knew that Prince Charles was still seeing his then ex-girlfriend, Camilla Parker Bowles, privately. Even though she knew that Prince Charles and Camilla were having an affair, Princess Diana still decided to wed the heir to the throne.

But fast forward to almost three decades later, Prince William and Kate announced their decision to tie the knot in 2010. The couple exchanged their vows at Westminster Abbey on April 29, 2011.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge started dating when they were still studying at the University of St. Andrews. This means that they were able to get to know each other well first before they decided to settle down.

And when Kate and Prince William both had doubts about their relationship, they decided to call it quits to give each other some time to realize what they really wanted. During their lengthy relationship, the parents of Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis broke up twice before finally tying the knot.

This was something that Princess Diana and Prince Charles never did, and it cost them their marriage in the end. In the book “William And Harry,” royal author Katie Nicholl said that Kate was actually pretty hurt after Prince William told her that he wanted a break from their relationship.

“Kate was beginning to question William’s commitment to their relationship, and she also had her own creeping doubts about their future after St. Andrews,” Nicholl said. “A number of things had caused her to question William’s commitment, although she had not raised them with him yet,” she added.

But at the end of the day, Kate and Prince William both realized the same thing. And that is they want to be with each other for the rest of their lives.
