Fans might have noticed Prince William acting more affectionately towards Kate Middleton these days. And, according to a body language expert, the Duchess of Cambridge has Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to thank for her husband’s positive change.

For instance, body language expert Judi James noted that William seems to be placing a hand on Kate’s back these days just like what Harry does to Meghan. “There does seem to be a slow but steady increase in the PDA rate between Kate and William over the past year or so, with this affectionate back-stroke display being the most recent example,” James told Express.

The normally traditionally royal and super-formal William is now more relaxed and is now more open to showing his affection to Kate. This might be, in part, due to the public’s positive reception of Harry and Meghan’s PDAs.

However, it appears that it’s just not Kate who’s happy with William getting more affectionate. The Cambridge’s PDAs likely have the seal of approval of Queen Elizabeth II herself.

“Kate’s profile and status as an individual within the royal pecking order does seem to have grown and it’s clear from the Queen’s body language when she’s with her granddaughter-in-law that she both approves of and feels affection for Kate,” explained the body expert.

According to The Sun, the royal couple becoming a lot closer lately might also be a byproduct of their efforts in dealing with the supposed feud with Harry and Meghan. “Also the rift between William and Harry must have caused emotional upset for both of the brothers, and that could have meant William being even more grateful for his wife’s support than usual,” James explained.

In addition, becoming might parents to three kids – Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis – might likewise have a hand it bringing them closer. “Also, with two children off to school and their latest adorable baby Louis, it’s probably only right that William relaxes a little and uses touches and tie-signs with Kate that signal respect as well as love for her in public,” the body language expert said.

While William has been generally seen as formal, he actually broke tradition when he proposed to his wife. Instead of asking Kate’s dad first, the Duke of Cambridge revealed that he asked her first so her dad won’t be able to say no.

“Well I was torn between asking Kate’s dad first and then the realization that he might actually say no dawned upon me,” William said. “So I thought if I ask Kate first, then he can’t really say no, so I did it that way round.”
