Princess Eugenie is following in the footsteps of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle as she makes a major change in her lifestyle. Just like the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, she also pledged to ditch plastic as her way of caring for the environment.

When Princess Eugenie married Jack Brooksbank, the couple pledged to ban the use of plastic as they committed to help save the planet. Even before she became Mrs. Brooksbank, Princess Eugenie had always been very vocal about this issue, taking full advantage of her platform to encourage others to do their part in caring for the environment.

On Tuesday, the daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson opened up about her decision to go plastic free a year ago. To mark Plastic-Free July, Princess Eugenie wrote a long post on Instagram about her experience working with Project Zero, an environmental charity that aims to protect marine life.

“This month of July is Plastic-Free July. As an Ambassador of Project Zero, I’ve been working to raise awareness of the consequences of single-use plastic,” she wrote in the caption of her photo with Project Zero.

Princess Eugenie went on to encourage all her followers to end their use of plastic and do their part in cleaning up the world. “I hope we can all do the same,” she said. “What a joy to work with such a dedicated team @weareprojectzero #passonplastic” she added.

Since their royal wedding, Princess Eugenie and Jack have been adopting a plastic-free lifestyle. In fact, they banned the use of plastic on the day of their wedding. Their current abode is also plastic free.

Princess Eugenie and Jack are not the only members of the royal family who support such an advocacy. Prince Harry and Meghan are also active advocates of caring for the environment.

Aside from being champions of Mental Health Awareness, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are also active supporters of environmental charities. Earlier this month, the royal couple encouraged their Instagram followers to take part in reducing fossil fuel emissions and plastic as they spoke of the “ticking clock to protect our planet.”
