Prince Harry an Meghan Markle have left Queen Elizabeth II feeling “hurt” after they reportedly decided not to spend Christmas with the royal family at Sandringham. This will be the first holiday season that the couple will be celebrating with their newborn son Archie.

A royal source told The Sun that Prince Harry and Markle have decided not to spend Christmas with the Queen. The insider did not reveal where the couple will be spending the holidays. It will mostly likely be at their home in Windsor or in America with Markle’s mother Doria Ragland.

Prince Harry and Markle apparently need to “recharge their batteries.” The last official engagement they have is this weekend, when the Duke of Sussex will attend a Royal Albert Hall event. After that they will take a six-week break from work to relax and enjoy the holidays.

The holidays will give the royal couple a chance to get away from all the tension in the palace and also get away from the constant media scrutiny. According to the source, Prince Harry and his wife will take this time to decide about their plans for next year.

The source said that the Queen may feel “a little hurt” by Prince Harry and Markle’s decision, but she is “far too gracious to ever let it show or be known.” The decision to not spend time with the royal family comes at a time when there have been reports of a rift, especially between the Duke of Sussex and his brother Prince William.

The Queen previously appeared to have snubbed Markle after she was seen standing separately during Remembrance Day, while the Queen and Kate Middleton stood together in a separate balcony with the Duchess of Cornwall. The situation was explained by stating that the balcony where the monarch stood was so small that it could accommodate only three people, Express reported.
