Prince William is not the next in line for succession, but a recent rumor has suggested that the Queen is planning to give her grandson the British crown. The truth is that despite such tabloid reports surfacing from time to time, they have all been debunked.

The fact that Prince William accompanies the Queen from time to time while she is performing her royal duties is being perceived as the monarch choosing him to be his successor. This has led to several rumors on the subject, and a recent report has cited a “palace insider” to make another such claim.

According to the rumor, the Queen told her son Prince Charles while they were on the way to the parliament that she has decided to change the line of succession. The fact, however, is that the Prince of Wales did not accompany his mother to the parliament, so the conversation never took place.

The rumor has been debunked by Gossip Cop, along with several others that have made a similar claim in the past. The report pointed out that even though the Queen enjoys many privileges, she has no constitutional powers.

The question of who will get the crown is determined by the laws of succession that are in place, and the only authority to make changes to these laws is the parliament. The Queen doesn’t have the power to choose her successor, which means the rumors about her choosing Prince William to be the next in line to take the crown are false.

This does not mean that Prince William can’t ever be the king. He has been taking on the duties on behalf of the Queen, which will come in handy in the future. More recently, the Duke of Cambridge presided over an Investiture on behalf of the monarch and presented David Carney-Haworth the co-founder of the charity Operation Encompass with OBEs for helping children affected by domestic abuse.
