The internet went into a tizzy soon after Bella Hadid took down a post, that Selena Gomez commented on. While speculations ran amok about a low-key feud between two of The Weeknd’s exes; it turns out things aren’t as bad as fans are imagining it to be. Hadid kept a stony silence ever since the controversy broke out—fueling rumors of rivalry between the two women. But, now that Victoria’s Secret model has spoken up, perhaps it was indeed just a misunderstanding, as Gomez puts it.

In a fresh turn of events, it is now alleged that Hadid had a conversation about the same with Gomez. So maybe, Gomez was indeed a little too quick to react and assume that Hadid took the post down because of her. Well, the reason behind the post getting deleted was just that the picture didn’t quite seem that appealing to her. Hadid is a top model, and irrefutably has an eye for details and great pictures. Maybe, the photograph didn’t really make the cut? Either way, now that the women have spoken up and apparently cleared the air, the rumor holds no relevance anymore. Perhaps, they are both done with their past and have come to terms with how different their lives are.

This angle actually does make a lot of sense, because soon after the chaos seemed to settle; Gomez took to social media and urged fans to not be “too hurtful” and that there was indeed a misunderstanding as Hadid is actually a wonderful person.

Throwing in a bit of context, Gomez seems to be in the mood to reconcile. The 27-year-old singer who’s currently being pegged as the Queen of Breakup anthems was back in the spotlight with her recent numbers, “Love You to Lose Me” and “Look At Her Now”. Incidentally, both the songs were released within a month of her ex Justin Bieber’s wedding to Hailey Baldwin. While Gomez is living her best life right now, she’s currently single and has reiterated that the focus will only be on work and has faith that she will find the right kind of love in due time.
