Alejandro Fernández donates concerts to Texas flood victims

Moved by the tragedy and filled with empathy, Alejandro Fernández and Shakira found their names on the list: the list of celebrities making heartwarming donations to the victims of the floods that devastated South Texas the first weekend of July.

"As an artist, I've always sought to bring hope through my music; as a father, this tragedy at Camp Mystic breaks my heart. That's why I want to dedicate my concerts in (the Texas cities of) Ft. Worth and El Paso to all the families who are experiencing this pain, and I want to do whatever I can and make a donation to support them," El Potrillo said in a statement published by Billboard .

Fernández noted that a portion of the proceeds will go to the nonprofit Catholic Charities Archdiocese of San Antonio, Inc., which is providing emergency relief and shelter to affected communities. The funds will also be distributed to families in need.

Concerts are scheduled for September 6 and 7 at Dickies Arena (Fort Worth) and the UTEP Don Haskins Center (El Paso).

This isn't the first time Alejandro Fernández and his family have made philanthropic donations. This January, the artist made a significant donation to the Los Angeles Fire Department and the Wildfire Relief Fund, as part of efforts to combat the wildfires in Los Angeles .

Days earlier, Shakira also made a donation to the same organization in San Antonio to help those affected by the floods.

"I just landed in San Antonio, devastated to hear the news about the floods, the deaths, and the girls who are still missing," Shakira said in a July 4 post on X, originally written in Spanish. "All I can think about are their families and their immense pain. My prayers are with you on this very sad day."

"With our hearts and prayers for those affected by the flooding in Central Texas," Shakira wrote the next day on X. "We will be donating a portion of the proceeds from tonight's show to Catholic Charities of San Antonio, who are providing relief to the affected families."

"Your help is important and greatly appreciated," the singer posted, inviting others to join in the donations for flood victims.
