In his final moments, a Texas father warned his in-laws about the fast-rising flash floods and left a loving voicemail for his children before being swept away to his death.

Jeff Ramsey, 61, and his wife, Tanya, 46, a breast cancer survivor, were staying at an RV park in Kerrville, Texas, when deadly flash floods struck the area on July 4. As the waters rose, Tanya called her mother to say goodbye, while Jeff contacted his brother- and mother-in-law who were staying in a nearby cabin, urging them to seek higher ground, according to The New York Post.

"He rescued them because they would have slept in and they would have washed away," Jake, Ramsey's 24-year-old son, told The Post. "That cabin was destroyed, completely underwater. He saved their lives."

Ramsey also left a voicemail for his son and daughter, Rachel, 23, telling them he did not think he would make it and that he loved them. Jake told The Post he heard water rushing in the background and his stepmother screaming, "We're dying, we're dying!"

"He called me once he realized there was no hope," Jake shared. "It was a short voicemail. He just left me a voicemail. He said, 'Buddy. I love you so much. It doesn't look like we are going to make it. Tell Rachey I love her.'" He added that he had never heard his father panic before, but this time, he "heard panic and fear in his voice."

While he worked as an insurance salesman in Lewisville, Ramsey was also active in the Adaptive Training Foundation, a gym for amputees and wheelchair users.

"There are miracles happening in that gym all the time. People walking that haven't walked in years or since their accident. My dad always told me that was his calling," Jake told The Post.
