Royal family fans have been comparing Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle ever since the latter got engaged to Prince Harry. People compare them for their shoes, dresses and general fashion sense until two camps emerged — Team Kate and Team Meghan — with each group passionately defending their duchess of choice.

Someone posted on Quora the question “Is it only a matter of time before Kate Middleton becomes jealous of all the attention that Megan Markle receives?” to gauge what people might think about the Duchess of Cambridge’s reaction in the long run. Apparently, it was a question too interesting to pass, and fans swamped the page with various answers, most of which are saying that there’s really no reason to be jealous of.

For instance, Quora user Tamera Campbell believes that instead of feeling jealous over Meghan’s popularity, she’s probably loving the fact that the attention that would have been directed at her is now mostly aimed at her sister-in-law.

“Catherine is probably loving all the attention Markle is getting,” Campbell wrote. “Catherine isn’t the type that loves attention, reporters have even commented on it. I’ve heard reporters love Markel [sic], because she will stop and pose for them, and appreciates their coverage.”

And it’s just how their personalities work — one prefers to avoid the limelight, while the other enjoys it, opined Campbell. “Anything to take some of the attention off Catherine is probably welcome to her, I’m sure. MM thrives on it,” she said.

Meanwhile, another Quora user, Esther Seib Shelley, believes that Kate knows her role down the line, and there’s simply nothing to be jealous of. “Kate will be Queen,” Shelley reasoned. “She knows and has been groomed for it, and it looks good on her! When you get to be Queen, who is there left to be jealous of?”

In fact, it should be the other way around, and Meghan should be jealous of Kate, according to Chris Smith. “Catherine will move closer and closer to the centre if the British Royal Family as the eventual wife of the heir apparent and then Queen Consort and then mother of the King,” Smith explained.

On the other hand, Meghan and Prince Harry’s line will inevitably move in the opposite direction. “Meghan will move further and further from the centre of the British Royal Family as Catherine’s children grow and take centre stage from their uncle and his family,” Smith said.

However, Alison Bourke offered a totally different reason why neither duchess should be jealous of the other. While it looks a privileged and glamorous life on the outside, the reality is that it’s a duty that one has to fulfill for his or her entire life.

“It's a lifelong duty,” Bourke said. “Prince Harry is on record saying ‘Is there any one of the royal family who wants to be king or queen? I don’t think so, but we will carry out our duties at the right time.’ Emphasis again on the word duty,” she added. She further noted that as the wife of the future king, it will get harder for Kate.
