Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton have been compared to Princess Diana ever since they joined the royal family. On an online forum site, royal fans shared their thoughts on who among the two duchesses have the qualities of a People’s Princess.

The fan-made title of People’s Princess was given to Princess Diana. But even after her demise on Aug. 31, 1997, the title is still attached to her. Every now and then, some royal experts claim that Kate or Meghan is the next People’s Princess.

Deanna Eppers, an ardent follower of the royal family, said that both Kate and Meghan both possess qualities and traits that make them similar to the Princess of Wales. For instance, the Duchess of Cambridge tends to get down to the level of the kids she’s talking to because this was something that Princess Diana did when she was still alive.

Meghan, on the other hand, is very outspoken on the causes that are close to her heart, which was something that Princess Diana also did decades ago. Since she married Prince Harry, the “Suits” alum has been vocal about human rights, animal rights and more.

However, Janet Devers said that it is unlikely for Kate or Meghan to be the next People’s Princess. After all, there could only be one People’s Princess, and that is Prince William and Prince Harry’s mom.

“She was a once in a century character,” she said. “She never set out to become who she became. She didn’t let her life and challenges define her, she used her life to understand people in trouble. That is what she tried to teach her sons. Catherine and Meghan have some of her qualities, compassion, caring, but neither has her magic, crazy fractured magic,” she added.

Marian Clarke said that Kate, Meghan and Princess Diana are not alike. The princess was a one-off because she managed to give great glamor and excitement into the public’s lives. The royal fan said that there won’t be another Princess Diana for a few more generations.

“I do wish people would just let her rest in peace and stop trying to resurrect her in some way,” she said. “I’m quite sure the Duchesses of Cambridge and Sussex will bring their own glamor and excitement to the family but hopefully not bring damage,” she added.
