Telenovela "Sin Tu Mirada"
Claudia Martín plays Marina in the Televisa production. Televisa

A new production cooking in the Televisa studios is "Sin Tu Mirada," an updated version of the Delia Fiallo classic "Esmeralda." In this new version, Claudia Martín ("Enamorándome de Ramón") plays the young woman that was born blind and switched at birth with another baby after they thought she was dead. Not being able to see makes our main character a woman with other sensibilities that people often take for granted. The telenovela has begun airing in México to much success as it's not trying to reinvent the wheel, but presenting us with a traditional story that we can enjoy. Univision has not scheduled it, but we hope it's soon. Find out more about the main characters below and tell us what you think!

Claudia Martín is Marina: She is a beautiful, joyful, naïve, and self-confident young woman. Although she was born blind, this is no hinder for her to be happy since nature is her best friend. She loves Damiana, whom she believes to be her mother. The truth is she is Prudencia and Don Luis’ daughter who ignore her existence. Marina is Isauro’s protégée, he got hooked with her beauty from the very beginning but eventually becomes obsessed with her. Marina falls in love with Alberto without imagining that this love will bring her so much pain as many people around them will try to separate them.

Osvaldo de León is Alberto: He is a masculine, athletic, handsome young man. He is Prudencia and Don Luis’ son. He is a good son, generous, intelligent, diligent, and thorough. He completed his medicine career in record time. He is a man of challenges and very strict with himself; he is also jealous and passionate. He has been Vanessa’s boyfriend ever since he began his career, but love is not exactly what he feels for her, it is affection. However, their engagement is convenient for both families to join their last names and fortunes together. He hesitates about getting married after meeting Marina, she represents freshness, innocence, and the entrance to a brand new and beautiful world since she has taught him how to see through the eyes of the soul.

Eduardo Santamarina is Don Luis: A strong and good-looking man. He is Prudencia’s husband and Alberto’s father; Alberto is his biggest pride. He has amassed a fortune with his exporting company and his avocado farm which is one of his many businesses. He has a strong and decisive personality, lying on the border of authoritarianism: “because I say so!” He is sickly attached to his lineage. He ignores Marina is his real daughter so he looks down on her as she puts his son’s engagement at risk.

Claudia Ramírez is Prudencia: A beautiful woman with thin, elegant features. She is generous, but fearful of her husband whom she completely obeys. She has a low self-esteem. She accepts fooling her husband making him believe Alberto is his first-born when she is told her real daughter was stillborn. She is sensitive and takes refuge in painting to avoid her solitude and sadness remembering the little daughter she lost. She doesn’t imagine Marina is her real daughter.

Ana Martin is Angustias: She is a sweet woman with good manners. She has always been Prudencia’s nanny and treats her like a little girl she overprotects, she is Prudencia’s advisor and her shoulder to cry on. Her love for Prudencia is so big that it reaches Alberto, whom she considers her grandson. She worships different virgins and always prays to them for some favors. When she believes Prudencia’s daughter is dead, she convinces Damiana to make Don Luis believe that a little orphan boy is his first-born, but she ignores that in fact the little girl didn’t die and Damiana is raising her as her own.
