Though Los Angeles may not be within the path of totality, the sun and the moon are still set to offer a breathtaking show, providing a unique opportunity to enjoy the solar eclipse outdoors or at one of the increasing number of gatherings, watch parties, and other events emerging across the Californian city.

The solar eclipse will cross into California on Monday morning, between approximately 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. People in Los Angeles will be able to see the moon's shadow covering approximately half of the sun (49%) at 11:12 a.m., according to NASA's eclipse explorer.

The spectacle is predicted to last over four minutes, if the weather cooperates. "If the skies are clear, and they generally are, people will be treated to a very nice partial eclipse," said Jean-Luc Margot, a UCLA planetary science professor, to Los Angeles Times.

The eclipse can be observed from any spot that has an unobstructed view of the sun, such as a park, your rooftop, or the main viewing points of Los Angeles. Here are some of the best spots and offerings in Los Angeles to experience the 2024 solar eclipse in a more elevated way. Eclipse glasses are necessary to avoid eye injuries.
