Irvine Police Department states a Californian man was detained for the murder of his father after investigators found his body in the house they shared in Irvine.
After Irvine Police responded to a call about a man who was hurt, Tyler Shipper, 24, was taken into custody on Friday.

After visiting the home to check on Bruce Shipper, 69, who had not shown up for work that day, the caller informed police that Shipper did not show up to work that day.
However, when the concerned party arrived at the house, the son apparently appeared "disheveled" and refused to let the person inside.
Officers were subsequently sent to the area, where they discovered the death of Bruce Shipper inside the house.
According to police, a knife believed to have been used in the crime was found on the scene.Police said the suspect did not appear to be hurt. The motive remains under investigation.

Irvine Police Department Press Release states:
Irvine, Calif. (January 14, 2023) – The Irvine Police Department (IPD) arrested 24-year-old Irvine resident, Tyler Shipper, after a family member was found deceased in the home they share.
This morning, IPD officers and the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) responded to a residence on Windwood after receiving information that an adult male was injured. The reporting party (RP) came to check on his friend after the decedent did not show up for work. He encountered Shipper, who appeared disheveled and would not let him inside. The RP and Shipper called 9-1-1.
Officers entered the residence and located a deceased male. It appears Tyler and the decedent are the only residents at the location. Tyler did not appear to be injured and the motive remains under investigation. A knife suspected of being used in the crime was recovered at the scene.
Tyler was arrested for homicide. The identity of the decedent is being withheld until the next of kin is notified.
