Even with an Academy award under her belt for her performance in “12 Years a Slave,” Lupita Nyong’o was a victim of a recent rumor tread that critiqued her capability as an actor.

A recent article published on the British website Mirror suggests that “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” director J. J. Abrams cut some of Nyong’o’s scenes because he wasn’t impressed with her acting.

“[Nyong’o] role has been massively cut in the finished edit” and “there was a general sense that something wasn’t working so a lot of her scenes ended up being either reworked or cut,” read UK paper The Sun.

Abrams, who declared to be appalled by the amount of people spreading false allegations, recently clarified the situation in a statement he shared with Page Six. “The number of rumors floating around about ‘The Force Awakens’ is truly stunning. Some are wonderfully funny, others simple preposterous,” he said. “But the only one more ridiculous than Jar Jar Binks being a Sith Lord is that I cut Lupita Nyong’o’s performance because it wasn’t satisfactory.”

“In truth, her performance wasn’t satisfactory. It was spectacular. She has brought the character Maz Kanata to life in the most wonderful, wise, touching, deep and funny way. Lupita never ceased to amaze me. Yes, we tried many approaches, and we finally landed on just what the film needed. She elevated all the scenes she is in, I’m forever grateful, and can’t wait for people to see her stunning performances,” he concluded.

Take THAT haters! Don’t miss Lupita and the rest of the amazing cast in the awaited “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” in theaters now.
