“Stranger Things” Season 3 will be arriving soon, and Netflix even announced a specific release date for the show. While not much is known about the upcoming season at the moment, a few details have been leaked out, which include cast members, the addition of a new character who could be central to its plot, as well as some hints on where the show could be going next.

Dark Discovery, New Forces Of Evil Coming

One of the most exciting things to look forward to next season is the introduction of a new character to the show called Robin. She will be played by Maya Thurman-Hawke, the daughter of actors Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman.

She is described as sharp and playful, but the most intriguing part known about this character is that she is set to discover a dark secret in Hawkins. Unfortunately, nobody knows what this secret could be until now. In a film populated with sinister supernatural entities, what type of secret could it be for it to be specifically labeled as something dark? While fans’ imaginations are definitely on a hyperdrive mode by now, nothing could be done about it but wait for either the show’s release or when more teasers are leaked out.

Digging back farther, however, executive producer Shawn Levy hinted that new enemies could be arriving in the third season. In an interview with Glamour, he was asked if Dustin or Hopper could become casualties.

“You might assume that but you would probably end up being wrong,” Levy replied enigmatically. “We're [going to be] dealing with forces of evil that are new.”

There’s A New Mall In Town

Netflix also released a new trailer, which is quite interesting as it is not really about the series. Instead, it’s an advertisement of a new shopping center called StarCourt Mall, which will open this summer on the show’s fictional Hawkins, Indiana.

However, it looks like the gang will frequent this new place, as suggested by one episode of season 3, titled “The Mall Rats.” Interestingly, Maya Thurman-Hawke’s character, Robin, is also seen working in the mall’s food court selling ice cream in the StarCourt Mall commercial. This could mean that the mall might have something to do with the dark secret she is supposed to uncover.

Who’s Coming Back?

Thankfully, most of the cast members seen last season will be back. These include Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), Joe Keery (Steve), Caleb Mclaughlin (Lucas), Finn Wolfhard (Mike), Noah Schnapp (Will), Charlie Heaton (Jonathan), Winona Ryder (Joyce), Natalia Dyer (Nancy), Sadie Sink (Max), Dacre Montgomery (Billy) and Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin). The exception is Sean Astin (Bob), who won’t be coming back since he was killed by a Demogorgon.

When’s Is The Release Date?

It won’t be a long wait for fans. Just as expected, Netflix finally confirmed that it will be out this year. The company announced via the show’s Instagram account that the release date for “Stranger Things” Season 3 is July 4.
