The European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported a magnitude 6.4 earthquake hitting the Gulf of California on Sunday.

Mexico's civil defense office has verified that no immediate damage has been reported in the regions affected by the earthquake. However, cautionary measures are advised for boats and the coastal population in nearby areas due to potential currents in ports.

According to the EMSC, the earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 km (6.21 miles).

Following the earthquake, the U.S. Tsunami Warning system swiftly announced that there was no threat of a tsunami along the U.S. West Coast, British Columbia, or Alaska.

The Mexican civil defense office later conveyed through Twitter that minor fluctuations in sea water levels, measuring a few centimeters, could be observed in the vicinity of the earthquake, Reuters reported.

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) determined the earthquake's magnitude to be 6.3.
