An unidentified male teen brought a gun to school Monday and shot himself. The shooting happened at La Salle High School, an all-boys parochial high school outside of Cincinnati.

Green Township Police Chief Bart West officially said that "a student produced a gun inside one of the classrooms and shot himself," around 8 a.m. Monday. The University of Cincinnati Medical Center did not respond to a message left by the Associated Press on the boy's condition, but Greg Tankersley, the school's director of community development said the student was "fighting for his life." "It's a tragic situation for this young man," Tankersley said.

Law enforcement officials said there were no other reported threats on the campus. They officially had no information on why the boy shot himself. Students were told that they could meet with counselors as-needed and that parents could take their children home for the day if they desired.
