The case surrounding the death of a Louisiana State University senior student has hardly gained ground and the father feels that the incident may have been a case of his daughter being at the wrong place at the wrong time.

The father, identified as Paul Rice, said in a report by Fox News that he could not find a sensible explanation with regards to the death of her 21-year-old daughter, Allison Rice.

The 21-year-old senior was found dead in her car that was found near the railroad tracks in downtown Baton Rouge on the early morning of Friday.

According to authorities, Allison was shot at least five or six times while she was inside her car after she was stopped at the railroad crossing at around 2:20 a.m.

“The only thing that I can really think at this point is it’s a bad case of wrong place at the wrong time,” Paul Rice said to the outlet. “She’s not anyone that had enemies. We don’t think that she was being stalked or followed.”

The elder Rice further added that the area where his daughter was killed was known to be dangerous.

“That particular area of Baton Rouge has a history of this type of activity,” the Louisiana native said.

Allison Rice had just turned 21 and was out with friends at the time in the Mid City area in Baton Rouge.

As of this writing, police have yet to identify suspects tied to the crime. They are also left clueless on the possible motive behind the fatal shooting incident.

“This is being taken very seriously,” he said. “… But despite that, all indications right now are there are no leads. They really don’t have an explanation at this point … as of now.”

Making it tougher for authorities is the fact that there were no surveillance cameras in the area, something that could help them in their investigation.

Paul Rice is now left to handle funeral arrangements for his daughter who had secured an internship and was set to graduate with a marketing degree in May.
