The suspect behind the brutal killing of a 23-year-old student from Mt. Kenya University has been apprehended and it appears he has a criminal track record.

The man was identified as Innocent Kalio Malokha. According to reports, he had a romantic relationship with the victim identified as Christine Ambani.

Ambani reportedly left the Mwihoko based Kiriri Women's University on the day of the crime. She allegedly met up with her boyfriend in Githurai town which was 15 kilometers away from the school.

Detectives claim that it was on the night of the fateful day when Malokha turned from boyfriend to killer. He allegedly stabbed Ambani in the neck and left her to bleed to death.

However, Malokha did not stop there. The man allegedly took the girl’s mobile phone and made it look like it was Ambani sending the message. He asked for Sh8,7000 from the family, a sum reportedly meant to refund Malokha for helping her settle in college.

But a look at records shows that Malokha is a repeat offender. He is also accused of killing his brother and sister-in-law as well as their one-year-old child.

"Further profiling of Makokha by sleuths based at the Crime Research and Intelligence bureau, revealed shocking details on his criminal record. He was discovered have been a dangerous criminal, previously arrested by detectives and set free under unclear circumstances,” according to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives.

Aside from that, he also had other offenses such as vandalism and attacking mourners who were planning the funerals of the three relatives who he was accused of executing.

Malokha was arrested in Chokaa, Nairobi County where he was hiding following the murder of Ambani. He is set to be arraigned in court to answer the charges. This will not include vandalism or disorderly conduct case that was withdrawn due to unclear circumstances.
