
President Donald Trump met with the Saudi Defense Minister, Prince Khalid bin Salman, a the White House on Thursday as he pushes for a peace deal between the country and Israel, Axios reported.
The outlet detailed that the meeting revolved around the situation with Iran and other regional issues, with the Saudi minister then speaking on the phone with the chief of Iran's General Staff of the Armed Forces. Maj. Gen. Abdolrahim Mousavi.
"We discussed developments in the region and the efforts being made to maintain security and stability," wrote bin Salman, who is the younger brother of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. He also met with White House envoy Steve Witkoff and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
The meeting comes just days before Trump is set to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on Monday. Witkoff, on his end, is scheduled to meet with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Oslo next week to restart nuclear conversations.
