Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino admitted in a Fox News interview Thursday that he is unhappy in his new role, and revealed it's even taking a toll on his marriage.
"The biggest lifestyle change for me has been on the family side," Bongino said when asked if the job was what he expected in a clip circulating on X.
The 50-year-old Trump official, who began his Washington career in the Secret Service before starting the "Bongino Report," said he could not say no when the president called and offered him the job.
"You can't tell your audience, for years, 'go out and do stuff, talk is cheap,'" Bongino lamented. "Then when the opportunity comes to do stuff, 'I didn't mean me,' you know, 'I meant you.' You're a fraud. You don't sound like a fraud; you are one," he continued, adding that it has been tough on his family.

"I gave up everything for this. My wife is struggling," Bongino said, before clarifying that he was "not a victim" like his predecessor James Comey.
"I stare at these four walls all day in D.C. by myself, divorced from my wife," Bongino added in another clip from the interview shared by journalist Aaron Rupar. He quickly explained he and his wife were not divorced but physically separated. "It's hard, you know, we love each other, and it's hard to be apart."
Dan Bongino has a nice cry on Fox & Friends: "I gave up everything for this. I mean, you know, my wife is struggling ... I stare at these four walls all day in DC, you know, by myself, divorced from my wife. Not divorced, but I mean, separated. And it's hard."

Bongino also divulged that, when asked, he tells people he does not like his job. In part, because his job requires making "big, bold changes." He also shared that when a fan recently said she missed him on his show, he replied, "I miss me too."
"Part of you dies a little bit when you see all this stuff from behind the scenes," Bongino sadly noted.
Social media users seemingly felt little sympathy for the former Conservative commentator.
"Bongino's sob story on live TV at Fox feels less like vulnerability and more like emotional blackmail," one X user wrote. "He 'gave up everything' for a movement that thrives on grievance and division, and now he wants sympathy while still peddling outrage."
"Worst thing is not knowing if you're still married, or separated or divorced. Sciatic madness!" the same X user joked.

Worst thing is not knowing if you’re…
"This guy has bullied people relentlessly over the course of the last decade and has contributed immensely to our fractured society. Now he's in one of the most powerful positions and he wants pity? Bro you're a piece of s***," another said in a follow-up comment.
