It has almost been almost three years since our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man a.k.a. Tom Holland was finalized for the lead of Nathan Drake for the video game movie “Uncharted” and just as it was about to begin shooting, the COVID-19 pandemic foiled all production plans. But this is not the first time that film has been unable to move past its ideation stage as plans to make it have been ongoing for over a decade now!

But just when it looked like that the movie was finally ready to begin filming, like many other productions of shows and films, the production of “Uncharted” also halted, but not before Tom Holland had already arrived in Germany for the film’s principal photography.

In a recent Instagram Live chat with Justin Bieber, Tom Holland shared his experience of the operations of the film being shut down on the very first day before it had even begun properly.

“Yeah, we went to work Day 1. I’m doing this movie called Uncharted, which is based on a video game. And we showed up for our first day of shooting and then they shut us down. I was in Berlin, so I had to come home and now I’m back in London,” he said.

And since then, Holland has been home-bound in London like everyone else to observe social distancing and bring down the massive spread of coronavirus pandemic. And in lieu of the delay in production, “Uncharted” will now be releasing on October 8, 2021.

As we were saying, this is not the first time “Uncharted” has been delayed

Well, for starters, years ago Mark Wahlberg was cast to play Nathan Drake when Tom Holland was a toddler. The film was supposed to be directed under the supervision of David O. Russell and Shawn Levy, but in the long list of setbacks the film has experienced, that was just one of the initial hurdles. The current postponed project, based on Art Marcum and Matt Holloway’s script, will be directed by Ruben Fleischer and also includes other actors like Sophie Ali, Antonio Banderas, and Tati Gabrielle.
