A Washington son has been slapped with murder charges after he allegedly used a staggering variety of weapons to savagely kill his mother and father following an argument late last month.

Suspect Zachary Rorvik, 29, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder for the brutal deaths of his father Mark Steven Rorvik, 59, and his mother, 61, who is yet to be named, in late May. The assailant had entered a not guilty plea at his arraignment on June 1.

The killer Rorvik, believed to have a history of mental illness, reportedly walked to his parent's home on 171st Avenue Court East near state Route 410 and Bonney Lake around midnight on May 30. He proceeded to pace back and forth on their backyard porch for hours as he dawdled with "voices" in his own head urging him to commit the violent assault, Law&Crime reported.

The suspect, armed with an array of weapons, eventually entered the home early morning after he mustered the courage to confront his parents, "pretty sure he was going to kill them," according to Pierce County charging documents.

An argument had allegedly ensued inside the home, which led to the son using the sharp objects he brought with him to lunge at his helpless elderly mother and father. The Rorvik matriarch fought back against the gruesome attacks of her deranged son, trying to force him out of their home. In the scuffle, however, the suspect viciously stabbed the woman in the head and stomach before turning to injure his father, prosecutors said.

The accused was reportedly upset after he was forced out of the home two years ago due to rows with homeownership, according to the News Tribune. Authorities said that Rorvik believed he was the rightful owner of the property.

A neighbor had alerted 911 about the carnage in the Rorvik residence around 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 30, after spotting the suspect holding a machete as his bloodied father hid behind a car on the driveway.

After the brief 911 phone call, the neighbor rushed to the victim's aid armed with a pistol and held the suspect at gunpoint. He said he fired a warning shot at Rorvik, forcing him to stand down until police arrived.

The resident then tended to the father, who sustained severe puncture wounds to his head, neck, and face. It was only at this time that the witness heard screams from inside the home, coming from Rorvik's mother. He initially thought the father was the sole victim of the gruesome ordeal.

Responding officers claimed that when they entered the crime scene inside the home, they followed a trail of blood that led them to Rorvik's mother, who succumbed to her fatal injuries at the scene. A tree branch and machete were found beside her body, both covered with her blood.

The Rorvik father died shortly after at a local hospital due to multiple blunt impacts and sharp force injuries, the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed.

Police noted that they seized knives, scissors, a machete, a drill, a wheel chock, and a tree branch from the scene of the appalling murder, Metro noted. All weapons were used simultaneously by Rorvik, who was seemingly determined to kill the elderly victims.

Rorvik immediately surrendered to the police and was taken into custody without any incident.

The accused killer is scheduled back in court on July 1 with his trial set to begin on July 21.
