The USC Trojans 2014 season started the way their 2013 season ended: with a victory over the Fresno St. Bulldogs. Rarely in College Football do teams bookend against the same team, but coincidentally it did for USC on Saturday night as they defeated the Bulldogs for the second time in nine months, the last victory being a 45-20 blow out in the Las Vegas Bowl last December.

Trojans QB Cody Kessler who impressed in spring and fall camps this year, seemed to be more comfortable at the position without a QB controversy as there was in the Trojans opener last year against Hawaii. Kessler threw for a career high 394 yards and 4 touchdowns as the Trojans routed Fresno State again 52-13 in Los Angeles.

"It was awesome. It was great to get out here in front of our own crowd. They were very loud and energetic. I think the best part is that it feels like we've been playing with Coach Sark for forever now and these guys really rallied around him and behhind the captains on the team and it was a really great team win." Said the Trojan quarterback.

New Trojans head coach, Steve Sarkisian shined in his debut as the new high octane, no huddle offense that he unveiled was fast paced and extremely exciting. USC had 52 points at the end of the third quarter when back up sophomore QB Max Browne replaced Kessler.

"It's great to be back, it's great to be home, and it's a great day to be a Trojan. Fight on!" Said the new coach after the game.

Nelson Agholor had two touchdowns as he did in the Las Vegas Bowl, and Trojans running back, Javorius “Buck” Allen was impressive with 133 yards and a touchdown averaging more than 6 years per carry. USC’s All-American defensive end, Leonard Williams had an interception and led the underrated Trojans defense as they created four turnovers.

Sark will enjoy his first win as the Trojans head coach, but won’t have long to celebrate as USC tackles their rivals to the north, Stanford next Saturday in Palo Alto. Stanford will be favored in that matchup as the No. 11 ranked Cardinal defeated UC Davis 45-0 earlier on Saturday. The Trojans upset the Cardinal at the Coliseum last year, but will have their work cut out for them against an excellent defense in a hostile environment.
