A Frenchman hell-bent on living his dream of becoming what he calls a “black alien” has cut off two fingers in his left hand in an attempt to form an alien-esque claw with his hands and get closer to the end of his dream.

Anthony Loffredo, a 33-year-old Frenchman living in Australia, has been doing an extreme body modification experiment he calls the "Black Alien Project," where he modifies his body in unconventional and extreme ways in an effort to look like what he believes is a “black alien,” according to the New York Post

“From a very young age, I have been passionate about mutations and transformations of the human body,” Loffredo said about the project in 2017. “I had a click when I was a security guard. I realized that I was not living my life the way I wanted. I stopped everything at 24 and left for Australia.”

For over a decade, Loffredo has undergone extreme measures to make his dream of becoming a black alien a reality. Some of his surgeries include full-body tattoos, tattooing his eyeballs in spite of the risk that he might go blind, having his ears surgically removed, and splitting his tongue into two, according to news.co.au.

He shows all of his different body modifications on Instagram under the name The Black Alien Project, where he recently posted a clip of his new left hand, sans two fingers, with the caption "I develop my inner peace."

Loffredo has gotten both praise and criticism for his body modifications. One commenter on his page expressed disgust at his actions because of what is perceived to be disrespect for people with disabilities.

"Blatant disrespect to those that are unfortunate to have lost limbs and look for ways to function as the human body should," a commenter on social media said.

Meanwhile, praise for his actions comes from commenters who are amazed at the daring and extensive work he is willing to put into the project. One commenter said, "This is disturbing AND fascinating at the same time, don’t think I could do this, but thumbs up to you for living your dream."

Loffredo has said that he is only 34 percent done with the project and that in spite of all the modifications that he has done, he is still thinking of ways to modify his body even further to meet the image of his project.

"It has become normal, even unconscious, to constantly think about my plans for the next few months," he said.
