The Americans
Despite just recovering from a gun shot wound she sustained in the botched mission in the Season 1 finale, Elizabeth fins herself in serious danger again after a seemingly simple task goes horribly awry. FX

Season 2 of “The Americans” continues tonight and with episode 2 “The Cardinal” and the roles between the married KGB spies, Elizabeth and Philip are about to seriously change. In the season premiere we watched as Philip worked quickly and efficiently to clean up a botched operation involving Elizabeth but things go from bad to worse as the couple attempts to clean up and maintain their cover in America. Elizabeth and Philip’s relationship has heat up both romantically and emotionally, but is the timing all wrong? After discovering the bodies of Emmett and Leanne, the pair realized that they are serious danger, however they are not the only ones at risk, their children are also targets.

The Connors’ daughter was also killed, with only their young son being able to escape. Now both Elizabeth and Philip realize how serious their position as KGB spies in an enemy country are, and in episode 2 “The Cardinal” Philip attempts to put the pieces together and discover where the threat against his family is coming from. However while he is far away investigating the fallout from the last operation, Elizabeth decides to stick close to home with their two children. But Elizabeth soon learns that even their home may not be the safe haven they perceived it as, she receives a “mysterious distress signal” which prompts her to action. In the midst of the KGB threats, a walk-in arrives at the Rezidentura, which provides both Nina and Stan with new prospects.
