Prince Andrew has been given a slew of nicknames all of his life, such as “Air Miles Andy” and “Randy Andy.” But it is the moniker “Playboy Prince” that seems to have resonated with royal fans.

Prior to marrying Sarah Ferguson in 1986, Prince Andrew had the reputation of being a party boy. And after the Duke and Duchess of York divorced, the dad of two once again embraced his old lifestyle.

At one point, Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth II’s third child was even photographed on a luxury yacht surrounded by bikini-clad models. He was also linked to a number of women like Kylie Minogue and Angie Everhart.

And even though the “Playboy Prince” image or nickname is not approved by the Palace, it is not exactly rejected by Prince Andrew either. And as such, it has resonated with royal fans. Royal commentator Margaret Holder said that there’s a reason why this is the case.

“The playboy image is not one Prince Andrew discourages,” she told Express. “He’s been seen many times on these party yachts and he thinks it enhances his reputation. Attracting luscious young ladies makes him feel young,” she added.

Back in 2006, musician Courtney Love detailed an encounter he had with Prince Andrew just 10 years after his divorce. She said that the royal turned up at her house a little after midnight because he wanted to party.

“He’s come to Hollywood to look for chicks,” Love said. “I don’t know what he expected at my house; I think he thought it was going to be like a party,” she added.

Rumors have also swirled that Prince Andrew has had 15 girlfriends after his divorce from Sarah. After ending their marriage legally, the two decided to still reside in the same house at the Royal Lodge.

During an interview with Hello! magazine last weekend, while at the Royal Ascot, Sarah gave an update regarding the real status of their relationship. After all, experts have claimed that they are planning on getting back together. Sarah told the publication that she and her ex-husband are bigger than friends.
