A woman reportedly suffered a heart attack and died while she was on a United Airlines flight from Houston to London on Wednesday, Oct. 5.

The deceased woman, who has not been identified, suffered a medical emergency and went into cardiac arrest in front of her fellow passengers while she was on board Flight 880 traveling from Houston to London on Wednesday, Oct. 5, People reported.

"We were called at 6:33 a.m. today to reports of a passenger having suffered a cardiac arrest on board a flight due to arrive at Heathrow Airport Terminal 2," a London Ambulance Service spokesperson said.

Following this, the London Ambulance Service team sent two cycle paramedics and an incident response officer to the scene. Medical personnel met the aircraft on arrival at London Heathrow airport. However, New York Post reported that the woman was pronounced dead at the airport.

The flight reportedly took off from Houston at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday and landed around 7:40 a.m. local time at London's Heathrow Airport.

Following the tragic incident, United Airlines extended its "deepest condolences" to the woman's family.

"A customer onboard United flight 880 today, from Houston to London Heathrow, experienced a medical emergency onboard," a company representative said in a statement.

"Medical personnel met the aircraft on arrival at London Heathrow," the spokesperson said. "We extend our deepest condolences to the customer's family and loved ones."

In a similar but unrelated incident, a woman reportedly died in front of her two children and husband while traveling on a flight from Hong Kong to the U.K. on Friday, Aug. 5, Latin Times reported.

Helen Rhodes, who was flying back from Hong Kong to the U.K. with her two children and husband after spending more than 15 years abroad, reportedly fell unresponsive a few hours into the flight on Aug. 5. Despite all efforts onboard, Rhodes was not able to be resuscitated and died in front of her family in her sleep.

Rhodes lay in a breathless sleep in her seat for the remaining eight hours of the flight. The plane subsequently stopped in Germany where Rhodes’ body was left in Frankfurt. Meanwhile, her husband, Simon, and young kids, Nathan and Emma, who were all “devastated” by the “unimaginable” loss, had to travel the rest of the way to the U.K. without her.

“We are still in disbelief and shock about the sudden passing of our dearest friend whose life has touched many people in Hong Kong and the U.K.,” Rhodes' friend Jayne Jeje wrote in a GoFundMe post.

“This loss is unimaginable. Helen was a devoted wife and mother. She was the glue that held her family together,” Jeje wrote.
