For the past 12 years, the San Pellegrino World's 50 Best Restaurant Awards unveils the best 50 restaurants across the globe in annual list. This year, Copenhagen's Noma restaurant has been given the prestigious honor of being the best restaurant in the world. By doing so, Noma knocked last year's winner, Spain's El Celler de Can Roca, to second place.

Dubbed as the Oscars of fine dining, the awards also honor restaurants by geographic location, chefs, and lifetime achievement. For the 2014 awards, four restaurants in Latin America made the cut. The restaurants in Latin America include: D.O.M. in São Paulo, Brazil; Central in Lima, Peru; Astrid y Gaston in Lima, Peru; Pujol in Mexico City; and Maní in São Paulo, Brazil.

Additionally, the World's Best Female Chef title was given to Helena Rizzo of Mani, Chef's Choice Award to Alex Atala of D.O.M., Highest Climber to Central, and Best Restaurant in South America to D.O.M.
