Trying to add an extra bit of bling to your Xbox 360 controller? If so you might be interested in the new special edition chrome series controller which has been unveiled this week.

The announcement was made by Major Nelson's blog and the controller allows you to add a little style and elegance to your Xbox 360 console with a gold finish.

Major Nelson explains: "Today we have announced the Xbox 360 Special Edition Chrome Series Gold Wireless Controller. Featuring the transforming D-pad and available for $54.99 USD in August, the controller will be available in the U.S. exclusively at GameStop and Microsoft Store locations in addition to select regions worldwide."

The Xbox 360 Special Edition Chrome Series Gold Wireless Controller will be available to purchase next month for $55 from GameStop and Microsoft Stores in selected regions worldwide.

If gold isn't your thing the exclusive chrome finished controllers also comes in silver, red and blue.

Microsoft's website describes the controllers saying:

"Outshine the competition and play in style with an Xbox 360 Special Edition Chrome Series Wireless Controller. It's available in your choice of three chrome colors: silver, blue, and red. These controllers also feature a D-pad that transforms from a plus to a disc for ultimate precision, accuracy and control."

The specs for the new controllers include:

Limited Edition colors (silver, blue, red with each color available exclusively at select retailers)

2.4GHz wireless technology with 30-foot range

Use up to four controllers simultaneously on one console

Integrated headset port for Xbox LIVE play

Adjustable vibration feedback for longer battery life

Use the Xbox 360 Guide button to keep track of your friends, access your games and media, or power on and off your Xbox 360 console
