Following the “Pretty Little Liars” Season 5 finale “Taking This One to the Grave,” fans learned that the death of Mona Vanderwaal was final, however that doesn't mean her character is out of the overall “A” plot. In a recent spoiler report it was revealed that even Mona’s casket would possess more secrets, PLL show runner Marlene King took to Instagram to post an eerily lighted photo of Mona’s supposed funeral and open casket. Interestingly enough, the last fans saw of Mona, she was dead in the back of “A’s” trunk, and it didn’t seem like Rosewood’s resident villain was ready to return their former nemesis back to the grieving Vanderwaals. “For those who have been asking for clues. #PLLChristmas,” Marlene captioned a photo of Mona’s casket, open in an empty church.

Unfortunately the caption and the casket don’t provide many clues or context, but we as PLL fans know that to get answers in this mystery series, you just have to ask the right questions. So in anticipation of the forthcoming holiday special, aptly entitled “How The ‘A’ Stole Christmas,” we are racking up our questions starting with if Mona’s body is returned? “A” doesn’t seem like someone who is willing to let go of precious cargo without a good reason too, so if Mona’s body has been returned it must be for a purpose. In the season 5 finale, Emily began to decorate her home with the help of Hanna, Caleb and even “A.” The hooded villain has a seemingly successful Thanksgiving, not only eliminating the threat of Mona, but also leaving ominous messages behind for the Liars. In the last few minutes of “Taking This One To The Grave,” “A” left the now infamous Mona doll in Jesus’ manger, replacing the infant Jesus in Emily’s Christmas display.

With Spencer already in jail for the murder of Bethany Young, could “A” attempt to frame Emily for the murder of Mona? Our guess is yes, “A” would essentially then eliminate most threats against his/her overall master plan, with just Aria and Hanna left to take down, the Liars could be in series trouble during the yuletide season.
