Back in the days, the word "geek" was used to describe someone who perhaps had a non-athletic body, was teacher's pet, was the smartest kid in class and most probably wore glasses. The word, however, has evolved over the years, and a "geek" is now often used to describe how fascinated a person is with a complicated subject, such as mathematics, literature, science fiction films, video games and more.

Geek Pride Day, according to DaysOfTheYear.com, originated ten years ago in Spain when Spanish blogger German Martinez chose May 25 to coincide with the 1977 release of the movie "Star Wars." Since 2006, this unofficial holiday has spread rapidly across the Internet and become a sensation around the world. In fact, one of the ways this event has been celebrated in the past is with 300 people gathering to play a game of human Pacman together in Madrid.

Geek Pride Day was officially first celebrated in the U.S. in 2008. Since 2010, it was spread to countries such as Canada, Hungary, Israel, Romania and Sweden. I'm a geek. You're a geek. We're all geeks! That's why we celebrate Geek Pride Day with some of the best movie quotes we know!
