When the Google Glass wearable tech was first revealed one of the biggest criticisms was the appeal of the glasses. Though the technology was undeniably great people were worried about how they would look in the technology. Well now Google has given users a new alternative. Google has announced a new Titanium Collection for the Google Glass, with four new extra-light frames as well as two new styles of twist-on-shades. The names of these new frames are Split, Thin, Bold and Curve.

The new frames act as the old Google Glass frames, only these add a bit more style. The Twist on shades are available in a total of three varieties which include: Edge, Classic and Active. Not to worry if none of these styles appeal to you as Google has announced more styles will be coming soon. Gizmodo posted a FAQ sheet that tells users why Google announced the reason the company has decided to announce these new frames, the price, which eye insurance covers the prescription lenses for Google Glass and a possible release date.

The FAQ sheet says Google decided to announce the new frames because, “This marks the next phase in the evolution of Glass as we move towards a wider consumer launch later in 2014. We started with five colors and an overall design that could fit a wide range of Explorers, their lifestyles and interests. Today, we're expanding our offering to a new group of Explorers, those who wear prescription glasses and enjoy sunglasses. The four new Glass frames and three shades will give even more people the opportunity to make Glass their own.”

As for price the Google says, “$225 for the frames, however, Explorers should check their health benefits to see if they're reimbursable. The shades are $150 each.” They also mentioned that a release date will be towards the end of the year. “Starting last fall, we've been slowly expanding the Explorer program and we'll continue to do that until our consumer launch towards the end of 2014,” said Google. The company also announced that they will partner with insurance companies to help people save on the wearable tech.

In the FAQ sheet Google says they will partner with VSP Vision Care for VSP members and VSP eye care providers “to receive reimbursement on Glass frames up to the frame allowance provided within their current vision benefit. The prescription lenses are also covered under the patients' lens benefit offering through their VSP coverage.” This is definitely a step in the right direction to get more acceptance from the mainstream.
