16-Year-Old Girl Kills Self Due To Unbearable Abdominal Pain

A 16-year-old girl who could not bear an abdominal pain reportedly killed herself at her home in the Warangal district, of Telangana, India on Sunday, Oct. 10.

The unidentified teen was experiencing unbearable abdominal pain on Saturday night and narrated her ordeal to her mother who reportedly ignored her cries and responded in an insensitive way, the New Indian Express reported.

On Sunday morning, neighbors found the girl lying unresponsive in the backyard of her home and alerted her family.

The teen was rushed to the Wardhannapet Community Health Centre (CHC) where doctors examined the girl and revealed that she had consumed poison.

After her condition worsened, doctors referred the girl to the MGM Hospital, where she died during treatment, authorities said.

According to Rayaparthy Sub-Inspector (SI) B Raju, the girl allegedly committed suicide by consuming rat poison.

The officer said that a case has been registered under Section 174 (enquire and report on suicide) of CrPC (Code of Criminal Procedure).

In a similar but unrelated incident, a mother in India's Rajkot attempted to kill herself after poisoning her one-year-old daughter because she did not like to live in her husband's village.

The woman, identified as Leela Nayak, a resident of the Mandva village, consumed poison on Monday, Oct.4. before feeding it to her toddler daughter, Asmita, police said.

Nayak had gone to live with her parents at Halvad Town during the Rakshabandhan festival. After living in the town for over a month she reportedly did not want to return to her husband’s home in the village.

However, despite her disapproval, her husband, identified as Rajnikant brought her back to his home a few weeks ago.

The woman repeatedly expressed her want to go back to her town which gave way to frequent fights between the couple.

On Monday night, following one such argument with her husband, Nayak fed poison to their baby girl before consuming it herself.

The mother and daughter were rushed to a nearby hospital, where the infant died during treatment and Nayak is recuperating.
