Manchester City star Benjamin Mendy's problems aren't coming to an end as he has been charged with two more counts of rape.

The footballer now faces one count of sexual assault and six counts of rape that are connected to four complainants who are aged over 16. The 27-year-old player will appear at Stockport magistrates court in England Wednesday, reported The Guardian. The alleged offences reportedly took place between October 2020 and August this year at his house in Prestbury, Cheshire.

He was initially charged on Aug. 26, with sexual assault of a woman in January 2021 and three counts of rape relating to an alleged incident that happened in October last year.

His 40-year-old co-accused, Louis Saha Matturie of Greater Manchester, also faces one count of sexual assault and six counts of rape in connection with four complainants. The alleged attacks reportedly happened between March and August this year, according to Sky Sports. Both are in custody right now, and are scheduled to go on trial on Jan. 24 next year.

Cheshire Police said in a statement that the Crown Prosecution Service and Cheshire Constabulary would like to remind people that "criminal proceedings against Matturie and Mendy are live and that they have a right to a fair trial."

In August, Manchester City suspended Mendy after being charged by cops, and said at the time that the matter is "subject to a legal process and the club is therefore unable to make further comment until that process is complete.”

Since 2017, he has made 75 appearances for the club and back then he joined from Monaco for a reported 52 million pounds ($6,98,46,400) transfer. In 2018, Mendy was part of France's World Cup winning team, but he did not play in the final. This season, he played against Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur for Manchester City, but was on the bench when the team played against Norwich City. The next game was against Arsenal, but he didn't play as by that time he had been charged by police.

According to Daily Mail, he earned 90,000 pounds ($1,20,888) a week and has a mansion worth 5 million pounds ($67,16,900) in Prestbury, which is an upmarket village near Manchester.
