Princess Diana, the dearly departed Princess of Wales, is remembered fondly, especially because of her close bond to her children, Prince William and Prince Harry. What comes as a unique and surprising aspect of their relationship are the pranks that she played on the two princes.

“That sort of childish, fun element really came out when she was spending time with us,” Harry said. “One of her mottos to me was, ‘You can be as naughty as you want, just don’t get caught.’”

1. The Cheeky School Cards

“She had a very cheeky sense of humor,” Prince William said in the documentary “Diana, Our Mother: Her Life And Legacy.” “She was a massive card writer and she loved the rudest cards you could imagine.”

The Duke of Cambridge recalled receiving “embarrassing” cards while at school and hiding the contents despite it having very nice things written inside. “She was very informal and really enjoyed the laughter and the fun,” he added.

2. The Surprise Birthday Cake

“The Princess loved embarrassing people in the nicest way, in a fun way, whether it was telling a dirty, risqué joke — which usually got me,” former head chef Darren McGrady said. He recalled a particular moment where he found the Princess’ “biggest” surprise for William’s 13th birthday.

“I came into work that morning and went down to the refrigerator, opened the door and I was just confronted with the biggest pair of boobs I’ve ever seen in my life,” he recounted. “The Princess had ordered a boobs cake for William's 13th birthday. William just went bright-red.”

3. The Christmas Surprise

One Christmas, Diana placed in Harry’s christmas stocking a very shocking surprise that drew a lot of laughs from everyone. “She’d spend hours looking for jokey things for their stockings,” said Diana’s former butler Paul Burrell. “One year, Harry got fake dog poo.”

Prince Harry was said to be so delighted by what he received. He immediately planned to prank his grandmother, the Queen, with it.

4. The Surprise Visitors

Another naughty prank that Diana pulled on William almost rendered the young boy unconscious with embarrassment. William retold how he arrived home to find supermodels Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell and Christy Turlington present as guests at their house.

“I was probably a 12 or 13-year-old boy who had posters of them on his wall,” he laughed. “And I went bright red and didn’t know what to say and sort of fumbled and I think I pretty much fell down the stairs on the way up. I was completely and utterly sort of awestruck. But that was a very funny memory.”

5. The Mysterious Chocolate Wrappers

Diana is a big fan of Drifter bards and Time Outs, but she was supposedly on a strict, healthy diet at the time. “While I was cooking her healthy food, she was sneaking out and having chocolate bars in the car,” McGrady said.

“Every now and again, after returning the car I would say, ‘Your Royal Highness, here are your keys, but I found these in the car,’ and hand her the chocolate bar wrappers,” he added. The Princess hilariously pointed the blame on her two children, despite both of them knowwing that she had been the one sneaking around with the chocolates.
