New Zealand rugby star Aaron Smith has come under fire by rugby officials. It is being reported that the athlete has been suspended from one match for getting caught cheating on his girlfriend.
According to The Sun, Smith who currently plays for New Zealand’s All Blacks rugby team will be suspended for one match. The athlete was recently spotted having sex inside of an airport bathroom with a woman who was not his girlfriend.
The site reports that multiple witnesses confirmed that Smith was engaging in sexual activity with the woman in the bathroom. Sources tell the site that he didn’t try to hide what he just did.
“ He buttoned up his shirt and sat back down with his teammates and carried on smiling, chatting like nothing happened,” a source told the site.
"The pair were in the bathroom for 5-10 minutes and from the noises coming out of the bathroom there was absolutely no question what the couple were doing in there," another witness tells the site.
“I myself did not have a problem with this,” a man told the publication. “ My wife, however, is protesting that this is disgusting.”
While Smith’s girlfriend Teagan Voykovich has asked for privacy regarding the scandal, New Zealand’s prime minister had a mouthful to say of the star.
"He clearly let himself and those that are close to him down, Prime Minister John Key says I think there's no question about that. And he'll have to reflect on that, and I'm sure the New Zealand Rugby Football Union will reflect on that. They do try and prove to young New Zealanders that they're the sort of people to look up to.
After coming under fire, Smith eventually admitted what we all know, he cheated on his girlfriend in public. He has been suspended for one match and he was also forced to issue an apology about what he did. Referring to his rendezvous as a “huge mistake” he claims that he made a “huge error in judgment.”
This is not the first time the star has been unfaithful. In 2014 his then girlfriend, Hannah Whitefield, broke things off with him after learning he had had a fling with the former stripper.
Smith is the first athlete to be reprimanded for cheating on his girlfriend.
