An Italian appeals court threwout Amanda Knox’s murder conviction in 2011 and ordered the young American freed after nearly 4 years in prison for the death of Kercher, now a retrial is set for September 30. Tumblr

Amanda Knox's retrial date has been set. A Florence appeals court has set Sept. 30 as the start for the retrial of Knox, in regards to her involvement in the 2007 death of her British roommate, Meredith Kercher.

The ruling for a retrial comes nearly four moths after Knox's acquittal for the murder of Kercher. In March, Italy's highest ranking court overturned the acquittal by faulting lower ranking courts for "deficiencies, contradictions and illogical" conclusions in freeing Knox and her onetime boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito.

The Florence court ordered a new appeals court to consider all the evidence to determine if Knox and Sollecito played a part in the murder of Kercher. Apparently, there was neglected evidence in the original trial that will now be presented by the prosecutor.

The victim, Meredith Kercher's family attorney, Francesco Maresca said Tuesday the Florence court would begin hearings on Sept. 30. Knox, who has been living in her hometown of Seattle since her 2011 acquittal, is not expected to attend.

According to the Associated Press, Kercher's body was found in her bedroom of the house she shared with Knox in Perugia. Her throat had been slashed. Knox was convicted of murdering Kercher in 2009; she then served 4 years of a 26-year sentence before her murder conviction was overturned.
