Tonight on "American Idol" the top 4 sang for your votes. The theme tonight was "Make Up and Break Up Songs, and Dedications" The top 4 consists of Caleb Johnson, Alex Preston, Jena Irene and Jessica Meuse. The top 3 will be the lucky ones that get the coveted hometown visits and obviously get to perform in the finale and get the chance to become the next American Idol.
The first round is the break up songs. Caleb opened the show and he sang “You Give Love A Bad name.” He received great feedback from the judges. He has been a very consistent performer. Up next Jessica Meuse sang “Since You’ve Been Gone.” She didn’t receive that good of feedback. Up next Alex Preston sang “Too Close.” The judges admired his uniqueness and artistry. Up next Jena Irene sang “Heartbreaker.” She received mixed feedback from the judges. They agreed she had amazing vocals.
In the second round of Idol Dedications, Caleb kicked it off by dedicating the performance to his band back home and he sang “Travelin’ Band.” JLo said he is going to be tough to beat. Up next, Jessica dedicated her performance to people that didn’t believe in her and she sang “So What.” Harry said it was not her best performance. Keith and JLo agreed with him. Then Jena sang “Bad Romance.” JLo said that she gives Caleb a run for his money. She also said that Jena could take it. Alex dedicated his performance to his girlfriend and sang “I’m Yours.” He received mixed feedback from the judges.
The last round of tonight’s show was makeup songs. Caleb sang “Maybe I’m Amazed.” He received a standing ovation from JLo and Keith. Harry said that it was absolutely phenomenal. Keith said he nailed it. JLo said it was his best performance since the beginning. Jessica went up next and she sang “You and I.” The judges agreed she killed it after having had two rough performances. Up next Jena sang “I Can’t Help Falling In Love.” She also received standing ovations from JLo and Keith and JLo even went up and hugged her after her performance. JLo said that she was moved by the performance. Harry said it was incredible. Keith said she is a musical platypus. Alex closed the show and sang “Yellow.” Harry said he needed that performance and that it was great. Keith said he has poetic vulnerability. JLo said he is integral to the competition.
