Angelina Jolie dropped her eldest son Maddox at Yonsei University in South Korea, where he will be studying in a few weeks' time. Allegedly, not only did Jolie got emotional on the campus, but she also went home and started to feel crippling anxiety with the thought that one day, all her children will leave home and her behind.

Maddox Jolie-Pitt is starting college, taking up biochemistry and like many moms who are sending their firstborns or even all of their children to college, the “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil” star admitted that she got emotional. “I leave today, I’m trying not to cry,” the Oscar winner said in a video, posted to Instagram by user @xx_efu on Wednesday, August 21, as reported by Hollywood Life.

Apart from not crying, Jolie tried hard to put on a cheerful front by chatting with Maddox’s fellow students and offering to take a picture with a group of them.

According to Radar Online, however, Jolie is starting to feel anxious about the idea that one day, all of her children will leave for college or their own lives, and leave her behind. According to some insiders, Jolie is exhibiting mood swings as she comes to terms with the reality that one day, the rest of her brood, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Vivienne and Knox will also be growing up and leaving.

The insiders also believe that some of her kids will prefer to be with their dad Brad Pitt rather than with her, and this is making her very anxious.

“It won’t be long before Pax follows Maddox into college, then Zahara will be gone, and Shiloh is highly likely to move in with Brad full-time at some point,” said one insider. “That’ll leave her alone with the twins, who are also spending more and more time with Brad,” the insider added.

The insider also revealed that Jolie is realizing this is a natural progression of things and therefore inevitable, so she’s feeling very crippled with worry.

It is highly likely that Maddox leaving is a very strong trigger of these anxious feelings because her firstborn share a deep maternal with her. The religious elders at the Cambodian Buddhist Temple located in Long Beach, California said so themselves. The family has visited the temple since 2017 and the nuns have observed how they treat each other.

Sivon Nuth, a nun at the temple, shared to Radar Online Maddox is “closest with her out of all the children.”
