Angelina Jolie personally asked “The Rise Of Skywalker” director J.J. Abrams why she couldn’t join the “Star Wars” franchise. The “Maleficent” star first expressed her interest to join “Star Wars” back in August.

Jolie has been working with Disney for a few years now. It all started when she nabbed the titular role in “Maleficent” in 2014, which raked in at least $758 million at the global box office. Currently, Jolie is busy promoting its sequel, “Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil,” which is hitting theaters this October.

Recently, Jolie delivered yet another exciting news to her fans when she confirmed that she’s joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe in “The Eternals,” where she’s set to play Thena. With the production on the film already in full swing, Disney is definitely Jolie’s new home.

But while the actress has both the classic Disney character Maleficent and Marvel character Thena to her name, there’s still a huge Disney franchise that Jolie has yet to penetrate — “Star Wars.” Back in August, the actress revealed how much she wanted to be part of the “Star Wars” franchise, but she still has yet to nab a role in this massive universe.

In a recent interview, Angelina Jolie admitted that she wanted to know why she couldn’t be part of the franchise. At the D23 Expo, the actress said that she’s more than interested to become part of “Star Wars,” but there’s no role available for her just yet.

Jolie revealed that she even tried to approach “The Rise Of Skywalker” director J.J. Abrams once to ask about her situation. “I tried,” she said. “I cornered J.J. in the hallway,” she added. “Pretty good. He’s so nice. I have said to him, I have no idea why I can’t be in ‘Star Wars,’” she added.

The Skywalker saga is set to end this Christmas with “The Rise Of Skywalker,” but that doesn’t mean that it’s the end for Jolie. With more “Star Wars” movies on the way, including Rian Johnson’s new trilogy and the Disney++ series, Jolie could still hold out her hopes.
